Re-registration FAQs
Common questions answered
What is Udyam Re-registration?
Udyam Re-registration is the process of migrating your existing Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM) registration to the new Udyam Registration system introduced in July 2020.
Why is re-registration mandatory?
The government has replaced the old UAM system with Udyam Registration. Without migrating, you may lose access to MSME benefits, loans, subsidies, tender preferences, and legal protections under the MSMED Act.
What is the difference between UAM and Udyam?
UAM was a 12-digit number under the old system (2015-2020). Udyam is the new 19-digit registration number (URN) launched on 1st July 2020 with better verification, PAN and GST integration, and permanent validity.
Will I get a new certificate after re-registration?
Yes, you will receive a completely new Udyam Registration Certificate with your new 19-digit URN, replacing the old UAM certificate. This new certificate is valid for lifetime.
How long does re-registration take?
The re-registration process typically takes 24 hours. Same-day delivery is available for applications submitted before 4 PM IST.
What documents are needed for re-registration?
Required: your existing 12-digit UAM number, Aadhaar of proprietor/signatory, PAN of business, and mobile number linked to Aadhaar. No physical document upload needed.
